How to play 4096 Switch

Each turn has two steps. First tap an empty square to set the next number there. It can't go right beside its twin, and until you switch you can tap another square to move it, or tap it again to take it back. Then swipe a row up or down, or a column left or right: it switches places with the line next to it, and every number in both lines moves along. Twins that end up side by side, in a row or a column, merge into their double, two at a time, and the double stays in the line that moved, so an 8 that lands beside an 8 makes a 16. If that 16 now touches another 16, those two merge as well. A switch that changes nothing is not allowed. The game ends when there is no square left for the next number. Build a 4096 to win.

When your best tile reaches 4096, the 2s retire and new tiles start at 4. Each doubling after that retires the next number. With a keyboard: the arrow keys move the cursor, Space or Enter sets the next number on its square, and Shift with an arrow key switches the cursor's row or column that way. Esc takes the number back. U undoes your last turn, 3 per game. Your game, best score and record for the fewest turns to 4096 stay in this browser.
