How to play 4096 Drain

Tap any empty square to open a drain there. Every tile in that square's row and column slides toward it, from all four sides, and stops against the drain or the tile in front of it. As the tiles slide, twins that bump merge into their double, so two 8s make 16. Tiles merge two at a time, and each tile merges at most once a move. Then the next number shown in the bar fills the drain square, so you choose where every new tile goes. A tap that would move no tile is refused. The game ends when no empty square can drain a tile. Build a 4096 to win.

When your best tile reaches 256, the 2s retire and new tiles start at 4. Each doubling after that retires the next number. Point at a square to see the row and column it drains and the twins that would merge. With a keyboard: arrow keys move, Space or Enter drains the square under the cursor. U undoes a move, 3 per game.
