The short version
4096x has no accounts, no sign-ups and no ads. Your scores and saved games stay in your own browser. We count plays without knowing who you are, and we use Google Analytics to see which pages and games people use.
What stays in your browser
Each game keeps your best score, the tiles you have reached and your game in progress in your browser's local storage, so you can come back to it. This never leaves your device and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Play counts
When you start a game, build a 4096 or finish a game, your browser sends a tiny message to 4096x.com saying which game it was and, at the end, the size of your best tile. These are added to running totals per game, which the home page uses for its Popular, Easy and Hard lists. The message holds no name, no ID and no cookie. To stop floods, our server keeps your IP address in memory for about a minute and then forgets it; it is never written down.
Google Analytics
4096x uses Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which pages they open and how far they get in a game (for example, that a game was started or that a 4096 was built). Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address and details about your browser and device. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can block it with an ad or tracker blocker, or with Google's opt-out browser add-on, and every game still works.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare, which handles every request (including your IP address) to deliver pages and keep the site secure. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Our social accounts and the YouTube API
We post short videos of our games on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook. Our own posting tool uses the YouTube API Services, through Google sign-in to the 4096x account only, to upload 4096x's own videos to the 4096x YouTube channel and set when they go public. It does not access, collect, store or share data about any other YouTube user. By watching our videos on YouTube you are also covered by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. When you follow a link to one of our social pages, that platform's own privacy policy applies.
Children
The games are for everyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included: there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to type in.
