How to play 4096 Fish

A boat sits on a pond where numbered fish swim across four lanes. Tap a spot on the water to row the boat over it. Every few seconds the hook drops by itself, and it catches the first fish it meets on the way down, so time the drop for the fish you want: tap the spot the boat is over to drop the hook at once. The caught fish goes into your bucket. If the bucket already holds its twin, the two merge into the double, so two 16s make a 32, and that fish may then meet its own twin in the bucket and merge again, always two at a time. A fish with a new number takes a free place. The bucket has four places; if a fish comes up with no twin and no free place, it spills and the game ends. Fish swim faster and the hook drops sooner as your highest fish grows. Build a 4096 fish to win.

Tap or click the water. Keys: 1 to 5 or the arrow keys move the boat, Space drops the hook, P pauses, and the game pauses itself when you leave the page. U rewinds about 3 seconds, 3 times per game. The Hook box shows the fish the hook would catch if it dropped now, with a bar for the time to the next drop; that fish is circled, and it glows gold when its twin is in the bucket.
