How to play 4096 Rail

Numbered trains roll into the yard from the top and run down the track through three switches into one of four sidings. Tap a switch to flip it and send the next train left or right, or tap a siding to set the switches toward it. A train that runs into the last car of its siding merges with it when the two show the same number, so two 16s make a 32, and that car may then meet its own twin further down and merge again, always two at a time. A train with another number parks behind the last car. A new train leaves every few seconds, and the Next box shows its number. Each siding holds seven cars; if a train runs into a full siding, the game ends. Trains come faster as your highest car grows. Build a 4096 car to win.

Tap or click a switch or a siding. Keys: 1 to 4 set the way to a siding from the left, P pauses, and the game pauses itself when you leave the page. U rewinds about 3 seconds, 3 times per game. The track the next train will take is drawn bold, and a siding whose last car is the twin of the lead train glows gold. Your game and best score stay in this browser.
