How to play 4096 Claw

A claw sweeps from side to side over six stacks of numbers. Tap to drop the claw: it grabs the top number of the stack below it, and the next tap drops that number onto whatever stack the claw is over then. Drop a number onto its twin and the two merge into their double, so a 16 dropped on a 16 makes 32, and if the number below is now its twin they merge again. New numbers keep falling into the machine, one at a time; the next one and the stack it will fall into are shown above the stacks, and it merges too if it lands on its twin. A stack holds seven numbers, and the game ends when a new number falls onto a full stack. The claw speeds up and numbers fall faster and bigger as your best tile grows. Build a 4096 to win.

Tap anywhere on the machine, or press Space or ↓, to grab or drop. P pauses, and the game pauses itself when you leave the page. U rewinds about 3 seconds, 3 times per game. A full stack about to take a new number flashes red, and the twin of the number in the claw glows gold. Your game and best score stay in this browser.
