How to play 4096 Pinball

Your ball carries a number and drops onto a pinball table with rows of numbered bumpers. Keep it in play with the two flippers at the bottom and send it round the table. When the ball hits its twin, the two merge: that bumper is gone and the ball doubles, so a 16 that hits a 16 becomes a 32 and goes on looking for a 32. Any other bumper only kicks the ball away. A ball that drains between the flippers, or merges nothing for 10 seconds, stays on the table: its number becomes a new bumper on the spot ringed for it, and the next ball drops in. Now and then a small new bumper appears too, more often as your numbers grow. The game ends when the table has no room left for another bumper. Build a 4096 to win.

Hold the left or right half of the table to flip that flipper, or use ← and → (or Z and M); Space or ↑ flips both. P pauses, and the game pauses itself when you leave the page. U rewinds about 3 seconds, 3 times per game. The next ball's number is shown at the top, bumpers that are your ball's twin glow gold, a dashed ring marks the spot your ball's number will take, and the bar at the top shows how long the ball has left to merge.
